Ivy Heymann got hooked on pottery in high school. She continued her education for six years, passing through Miami Dade Junior College, the University of Miami, and the University of Tennessee. Apprenticeships in Georgia, North Carolina, New Mexico, and Washington were only part of her continuous education which included numerous workshops. Influences on her work include Asian and American folk pottery. Her pottery is made of porcelain, thrown by hand and slab built. Fired to 2400 degrees, all glazes are home made in a palette representative of the White Oaks environment. |
